Call for Submissions -- Your Favorite Cheap Mics
Wednesday July 25, 2007
Are you making some killer recordings with a really cheap microphone? I want to hear from you!In preparation for a big feature on budget microphones, I'd like to hear what your favorite budget mics are. A Chinese ribbon mic? A no-name omni mic? Whatever it is, let's hear it!
If you've got a favorite, cheap microphone that sounds way more expensive than it was, I'd like to hear about it! Send your submissions to homerecording.guide@about.com. Thank you!

audio technica 4033. Excellent value and great sounding mic. 4022 for guitar amps etc
Hope you cover lapel / tietac mics.
My big favorite is, or was, a cleverly designed, low impedance Aiwa. I had to record main speakers at business meetings and for voice, never found anything to beat this little Aiwa I picked up somewhere for about $35. Had Sonys and Radio Shacks, but this was clearly the best.
Head rotates uni – omni and battery compartment is spring-loaded as a clothes clip.
Loved the sound of it for voice, used it to death and, alas, it broke. Going to start podcasting pretty soon. Anyone know where I can find another?
