After a long wait, the newest member of the Pro Tools family is just around the corner: Pro Tools 8 has been previewed at AES!
Not only has the interface been improved greatly, but several new features have been introduced, including fantastic virtual instruments, pitch-correction and amp simulator plug-ins, and on-board sampling suites -- not to mention the track count in Pro Tools LE has been greatly expanded!
Check out the preview we posted here.

Yes, indeed Protools 8 looks great. As for higher track count, I really don’t think more tracks will make for better music. But the improvements in the interface make for a smoother experience than ever before.
er, except that in addition to decreased CPU performance, Digidesign has screwed up the Asio driver and you will NO LONGER be able to use digidesign hardware with other asio compatible software. No more Ableton Live, no more Reason, no more Native Instruments… Still possible in rewire mode, but you know the limitations… no VST plugins in Live, basically they have managed, with their ALMOST upgrade, to give us one less reason to purchase a digidesign system. Well done! This asio problem has reported over and over again for the past two months, but Digidesign has not even admitted it yet. Expect the Asio driver to be fixed around the time of the Protools 9 release, sometime during your ext life.

I havent had much success recording with pro tools..I always run the other way when I here that a studio is using the product. It needs to follow what CUBASE does.. I havent checked out 8le yet but my friend has it and he is having problems sounding good on it.. I will check it out tomorrow Jan1 2012..Its compatibility is not what I thought. I do think its a good thing to own though.Just to understand what you dont want.
