Are you using an iPad for recording?

I've been hearing stories lately of people using some very cool iPad apps to control their Pro Tools or Logic systems. I've not done it personally, but I've also heard great things about Allen & Heath's new iLive iPad applications. What an incredible little device.

I'd like to try out some of the most popular iPad music applications, so I'd love your opinion. What are you using an iPad for, and how are you doing it? Let's hear your feedback!

i am using the ipad & iphone as sound sources… my most recent release includes only sounds recorded direct from an ipad into a digital recorder… some editing was done, but no multi-tracking…

app used for that include proloop, electribe, soundtable and reactable… i am also liking sonic wire scupltor, bloom, bebot, toplapp, thumbjam, torocore, xenon, filtatron, thump, morphwiz, radarbeats…

big fan of the palm sounds blog, downloading new apps pretty every week…

background: studied electronic sound with ramon zupko at western michigan university, working with a modular moog system…

Iíve played with a load of music creation apps for the iPad, but to date thereís only one I use for serious music making which is nanostudio. I initially used it on my iPhone but on the large iPad screen it works a treat. It just ticks all the boxes for me in that I can sit relaxed on my sofa fire up it up and create a complete piece of music and upload to Souncloud.com., very satisfying. I could go on into an elaborate critique of this app but just look on the net for reviews and youíll see what I mean.

I am using iPad for playing with different setups. One of my favorite is playing everything inside NanoStudio, but sometimes I record into my Mac with Amplitube for iPad and Moog Filtatron.

Here’s some of my playings with nanostudio on iPad

what a nice device ;)
