The About.com guide to Home Recording, Joe Shambro, is a St. Louis, MO-based audio engineer, producer, and writer, drawing from extensive experience in the studio, on stage, and as a frustrated home studio owner himself.

Joe's digital portfolio and information on his St. Louis recording studio is available at www.js-sound.com.

Experience:

As a live sound engineer, Joe served as front-of-house engineer for bands including Marc Broussard, Green Lemon, Speedball, Driver, and many others on national tours. He has also worked as house engineer on permanent and fill-in basis at many of St. Louis' best music venues. Working from his concert taping background, he also specializes in professional live recording.

As a studio engineer, Joe has several engineer and assistant engineer credits, for several bands including alt-country rockers Ten High, goth artist Drioux Galvan, hard rockers Driver, and many others. Aside from maintaining his own home studio, he also has extensive commercial studio experience, doing freelance work for many large corporate clients.

Education:

Joe attended both Louisiana Tech University and Southwestern Illinois College, studying music, recording technology, and minoring in Spanish.

From Joe Shambro:

"Hi, and welcome to About.com and our guide to Home Recording! I'm honored to be your guide on this topic. I'm excited to share the tips, techniques, and shortcuts that I've collected in my experience as both a live sound engineer and a recording engineer - both in my home studio and commercial studios. I'm also very excited to expand this site's coverage of live sound as well as the most exciting articles from the artists and engineers making today's best music. One thing to remember: No matter your budget, professional results are always within your reach, and my personal goal is to help every musician and would-be recordist who visits this site make their recording ideas come to life. Thanks again, and I look forward to your feedback!"
